This study was undertaken to develop the DL (drift-less) dust insecticide for the control of brown planthopper in later growth stage of rice plant. DL dust was formulated with 2 % BPMC (2-sec-Butyl phenyl methyl carbamate) as a toxicant and pyrophillite as a carrier. Dustability and floatability of the pyrophillite was acceptable as DL dust carrier in the respect of dusted amount by an engine powered duster and floated amount. Bulk density of the DL dust was higher than that of commercial dust formulation, while the drift rate of the DL dust was quite low. The stability of BPMC compound in the DL dust under the accelerated temperature storage for 12 weeks was meager comparing the commercial dust. Deposited amount of the DL dust on the ground was higher and on the lower part of rice shoots (Oryza sativa, Chucheong byeo) at ripening stage was almost three times higher than that of dust. The control efficacy of the DL dust on rice brown planthopper (Nilaparvata lugens) at ripening stage was equal to a commercial dust formulation
