The University of the Philippines at Los Banos (UPLB [College, Laguna, Philippines]), particularly the Department of Agricultural Process Engineering and Technology, College of Engineering and Agro-Industrial Technology, is currently involved in rice, corn, sorghum and legumes post-harvest research. At present, a village rice mill is being tested in a farmer's cooperative in Laguna [Philippines] while another is being tested in Nueva Ecija [Philippines]. The former is a locally fabricated rubber roll huller-engelberg type polisher while the latter is a Satake SB-2B machine. Sorghum drying, threshing, milling and storage are also being studied. Corn shellers have been developed and attempts are also being made to improve legume drying and threshing.
