Studies were performed in 1983-85 on three component mixtures of winter barley cultivars. Yield and intensity of the powdery mildew was determined in mixtures and their components grown in pure stands. It was found that prevalence of the disease in mixture was 15 to 70 percent less than in pure stands. Mixtures outyielded their pure components by 3 to 17 percent
