The present state of investigations of ploughshares as to the degree of wear with particular attention paid to the change in shape of the cutting edges is described. The influence of mechanical composition of soil, its compactness and moisture on the wear of ploughshares is analysed. The influence of the changes in the cutting edge shape and in the ploughshare size and geometry on the limiting state of the ploughshare is discussed. The criteria of the limiting state are given
