A study on suitable planting distances and cutting stages of Bells of Ireland for cut flower

A study on planting distances and cutting stage of Bells of Ireland for cut flower was done at Maejo Institute of Agricultural Technology during October 1985 to May 1986. The distance used were 30 x 30, 40 x 40, 50 x 50, and 60 x 60 centimeters, differences cutting stage, were 50, 75 and 100 percent of open flowers. Duration of air drying were 5, 10 and 15 days to determine the quality of dry cut flower. The results revealed that on distance of planting there were no significant differences on plant height, width of plant, number of flowers per plant, length of inflorescence and stem length, On cutting stages, 100 percent of open flower was suitable cutting stage for air drying and showed the highest quality after drying. For duration of air drying, 5 days gave the best quality for overall treatment, but there was no correlation between time of flower opening and duration of air drying.
