This study included a herd of 158 cows belonging to the Croatian Simmental breed. The aim of the study was to determine how many heads had regular lactation and how many irregular during the 4th and 5th lactation, as well as how such lactation curves affect reproduction. The following has been established: Cows with regular lactation produced 3,936.13 kg of milk, the dry period lasted 78.10 days, service period 101.37 days, the insemination index was 1.6 and prolificacy disturbances were present in 31.41% of the cows; cows with irregular lactation produced 3,979.95 kg of milk, the dry period lasted 74.62 days, the service period lasted 115.30 days, while the insemination index was 2.0 and prolificacy disturbances were present in 54.40% of the cases; cows with regular lactation, therefore, had less apparent prolificacy disturbances, a shorter service period and more intense prolificacy.
