Monarthropalpus buxi Laboulb. (Diptera, Cecidomyiidae) and its parasites

In the 1982-1984 period an increased number of Monarthropalpus buxi (Lab.) (Diptera, Cecidomyiidae) was observed in the leaf gall of box. The material was collected and biology of the pest was investigated. M. buxi has one generation in a year and hibernates in L3 or L1. Eclosion of imago is from mid April to mid May. the gall formation starts with feeding in the L2 stage and they develop by hypertrophy of pallisade tissue first and then of cells of the spongy tissue. Tetrastichus microscopius species was established as a parasite of M. buxi larvae and Peridae - its predator.
