It has been established that investigation of aflatoxin toxicity on Artemia salina larvae has the following advantages: 1. it is not necessary to keep live cultures since larvae hatch from dehydrated eggs after 24-48 hours; 2. Artemia salina larvae are extremely sensitive to submicrogram quantities of aflatoxin and therefore they can be used as test organisms for the determination of victual and feed extracts contaminated by moulds in which aflatoxins have been determined qualitatively.
