[The effect of Benomyl fungicides on the occurence of respiratory-deficient mutants in the Saccharomyces cerevisiae yeast]

On the basis of the obtained results,it was concluded that Benomyl causes respiratory-deficiencies (RD) of mutants in baker's yeast (Saccharomyces cervisiae) strains. The obtained RD-mutants have a reduced glucose (Vmax) consumption ability and a smaller affinity towards glucose (Km), along with greater participation of the pentose phosphate pathway in the decomposition of glucose.
