Evolution of Pseudomonas caviae enzymes in biodegradation of synthetic aminopirimidine derivates

It was established that the Pseudomonas caviae type of bacteria and its mutant ASIM contain deaminases which are applicable considering their pH optima and kinetic properties, but which have different substrate specificities. The tasted bacteria were not able to use any of the pyrimidine analogues as a source of carbon or energy. The initial reaction of these 2-aminopyrimidine analogues was the hydrolysis of 2-aminosubstitutions, producing ammonia and the corresponding uracil or methyl-substituted uracil. Metabolic ways of degrading pyrimidine products with a strain of P. caviae and its mutant ASIM, have been confirmed.
