With out limited availability of power, it is of utmost importance that cane knife design and setting be ideal, in order to obtain the best possible cane preparation. Some trials were carried out during the 1987 crop at Brechin Castle Factory, Caroni (1975) Limited in Trinidad and some encouraging results were obtained. While we were experimenting with cane preparation, trials were also conducted in milling efficiencies by removing the discharge roll pinion of the last mill.
