A study on the control of uzi fly, Tricholyga bombycis (Beck) in silkworm, Bombyx mori [in Bangladesh]

Eucalyptus oil (natural oil), in its commercial form was tried as a repelling agent against uzi fly, Tricholyga bombycis, a serious parasite of silkworm Bombyx mori L. treated under three seasons and without any mechanical protection showed the incidence of 97.5% (April + May), 31.39% (June) and 34.28% (August + September) as against 16%, 0% and 2.95% in the treated limes respectively. Comparative performances of eucalyptus oil with other chemicals viz., Benzyl benzoate, Dimethyl phthalate, Dibutyl phthalate, Phenyl and Neem seed extract were also discussed.
