Blue green algae of Indian rice fields
1991
Anand, N.
The blue green algal flora of the rice fields was studied and found that almost all the morphological types occur in the various regions. Not only the common species but also certain native species of localized distribution were identified. The pH tolerant, salinity adapted, and ammonia releasing strains and also the strains that excrete the fixed nitrogen were isolated. Strains that are potent nitrogen fixers even in the presence of ambient ammonia were also available. Results of the work on the blue green algae will be presented and discussed in detail.
