In this experiment, a series of compounds of phenoxyacetamides and phenoxyacetates were synthetized and their effect in killing bristle grass in millet field was tested. Results showed that No. 1, 6, 8, 16, 18, 20, 26, 27, 32 among these compounds were about 50% effective in killing bristle grass when used before it germination and with the concentration of 2 to 4 kg/a, and the rate of inhibiting the germination of millet crop was only 5%. Of all these compounds, N-O-methylphenyl-2-methyl-4-chlorphenoxyacetamide was the best in killing bristle grass (51-72%) and with a stable effectiveness
