Carbon dioxide production at low soil redox potentials
1991
Kralova, M. (Ceskoslovenska Akademie Ved, Prague (CSFR). Ustav Experimentalni Botaniky)
The effect of soil redox potentials on CO2 production was studied in the soil suspensions of the Crowley silt loam soil (USA). Soil suspensions were equilibrated under controlled redox levels (-200, -100, 0, +100, +200, and +300 mV). The sufficient amount of readily available soil carbon (soil Cox) was more important for CO2 production than the effect of redox potentials. As the O2 supply was restricted (below +100 mV), NO3-was consumed, as O2 was depleted (below 0 mV), NO3-was used as electron acceptors.
