Use of ecologically safe pressure liquids in machines operating in a natural environment

The leakage of petroleum (mineral) products from forest machines represents a source of permanent pollution of the natural environment. Their replacement by harmless, so called ecological oils represents the successful solution of this problem in accordance with ecological considerations in forestry and the requirements for nature conservation. The paper discusses the problem of replacing the mineral liquid HM 46 used in hydraulic arms in Czechoslovakia by some ecologically safe pressure liquid developed abroad and inquires into the technical and ecological implications of this substitution.
