The results of field trials indicate that the nitrification process can be influenced by the N-Serve and ATL inhibitors. Nitrogen application rate of 60 kg per hectare, compared with 30 kg, increased the yields of both seeds and fibre as well as the fibre content; stem yields were increased significantly. Pre-sowing application of the ATL inhibitor with ammonium nitrate increased significantly the yield of stem and fibre, compared with the use of the N-Serve inhibitor. The yields of stems and fibre and the content of fibre were increased significatly when ATL was applied with ammonium sulphate in comparison with the application of ammonium sulphate alone or in combination with N-Serve.
