In the present work, the snails Bulinus truncatus, vector of Schistosoma haematobium were treated with the sublethal doses of the plant Canna indica L. at concentrations of 100, 500 and 800 p.p.m. to show their effects on the development of the resultant eggs. It has been found that increasing the doses of Canna indica L. was accompanied by a decrease in the fertility of the snail. It is speculated that the steroids present in this plant have an influence on the fertility of Bulinus truncatus through its effect on the ovotestis.
