The effect of some shade levels on sweet pepper production was investigated. The shade levels were 40, 55 and 63%, accomplished by placing black polypropylin nets on solid iron framed tunnels (7.5 m wide x 40 m long and 2.5 m high) provided by Tildent Co. (compared with check plants grown under fully sunny conditions). Shading increased plant height, leaf area, fresh and dry weight, total yield and reduced the number of non-marketable fruits. The highest number of fruits (17/plant) and yield 3.40 kg/m) were obtained with 40% shade while plants grown in the open produced 15 fruits/ plant and yielded (1.96 kg/m2 under field conditions in kafr El-Sheikh area.
