Reports trawling survey by the Research and Utilization Branch of the Fisheries Department, in Ghanaian coastal waters, to assess demersal fishery resources. Horizontal opening of fishing net is an important determining factor in the estimation of the area swept by the trawl net in one haul. This was used in revising the estimation of biomass with the recalculation of potential yields using Gulland's formulation of the Schaefer model. Problems associcated with swept area calculation were also high-lighted. Productivity in the Ghanaian waters is not very much higher than along the West Coast of Africa but fishery resources are over exploited
