Reduction of losses occurring upon cold filtration

Niagara filter and perfil filteraid were used in experiments to reduce losses of oil upon cold filtration and increase the efficiency of cold filtration. The following filtration parameters were found to be optimal: for slurryng 5 sacks of filter earth /K-500/; for filtering 5 sacks of K-340 and 10 sacks of K-500 and 4 sacks of K340; Brabender filter earth doser in stage 1; blast for 20 min at 3-4 bar pressure. In one filtering cycle the use of perfil was reduced o 2/3. The oil content of the filter cake increased, but because of the use of reduced amount of perfil the loss of oil decreased from 1 per cent to 0.7 per cent which amounts to 7-9 tons of oil saved in 1 month. If a greater amount of air were used to blast the filter better parameters would be obtainable.
