[The effect of phosphogypsum application on the efficiency of salt leaching and plant growth]

Leaching was conducted for two soils differing in their texture. Phosphogypsum was added to the soil at the level (0, 3, 6, 12 ton/hectare). The results showed a significant reduction in the depth of water required for leaching, and time required to leaching. It was found that addition of phosphogypsum led to an increase in water movement through soil, a decrease in soil pH during leaching, an increase of the leaching efficiency, also an increase in available P in the upper part of soil which results in a significant increase in drymatter and p-uptake. Generally the effect of phosphogypsum was more pronounced in the silty clay textured soil than in loamy one
