The Hurunui River, North Canterbury, New Zealand, supports trout and salmon fisheries. Angler surveys were conducted for the 1979-80, 1980-81 and 1981-82 fishing seasons, to quantify the number of anglers, amount of effort spent fishing the river, the catch of salmon and trout, and to determine the distribution of effort and catch along the river
