Survey and identification of plant parasitic nematodes associated with garlic (Allium sativum) in San Jose City [Nueva Ecija, Philippines]

A survey was conducted in San Jose City [Nueva Ecija, Philippines] to determine the genera of plant parasitic nematodes associated with garlic, their relative occurrence, their population density and distribution. Five genera of plant parasitic nematodes were found and identified as follows: Pratylenchus, Helicotylenchus, Tylenchorhynchus, Ditylenchus and Meloidogyne. Pratylenchus was the most widely distributed and had the highest population density. This was followed by Helicotylenchus, Tylenchorhynchus and Ditylenchus, Meloidogyne species occurred the least.
