The changes in soluble proteins, protein amino acids and free amino acids in the ears of relatively resistant Atlas 66 and susceptible Bezostaya 1 winter wheat varieties infested and non-infested by grain aphid (Sitobion avenae F.) have been investigated. The non-infested ears of Besostaya 1 had higher content of the estimated compounds than Atlas 66. After attack variety Atlas 66 showed lower concentration of the soluble proteins and protein amino acids, but much higher accumulation rate of free amino acids. The effect of the aphid infestation on the interaction between pest and host plant and possible role of amino acids and proteins in the constitutive versus inducible wheat resistance to S. avenae are discussed
