Pineapple experiments in Suriname
1982
Soerodimedjo, F.W.
Research on pineapple regarding selection, plant density, fertilization methods, weed control, pests and diseases in relation to different soil types in both the interior and the young coastal plains of Suriname is given. The results show that the application of fertilizer both by hand in the basal axils of the older leaves or on the ground at the base of the plant gave the largest number of harvested fruits per 100 plants (i.e. 56) and the highest average fruit weight (i.e. 1099 grams). The relationship between pineapple variety and taste, flavour, % total acid, Brix degrees, pH etc., are tabulated.
