Effectiveness of integrating supplementary feeding for pregnant women and pre-school children in primary health care activities in Roi-et province [Thailand]

160 pregnant women in third trimester with gestational age between 28 +- 2 weeks from 8 district hospitals in Roi-et Province were selected into 2 groups, ie control and experiment. The 100 g per day supplementary food were given to pregnant women in experiment group for 3 months until delivery, anthropometric measurement, birth weight and 24 hours dietary recall were mesured in both groups. Result shows on significant difference between weight gain of pregnant women in both groups but birth weight in the experiment group is significantly higher than the control group. The comparision of birth weight between number of children who weight below 2,500 g and 3,000 g in supplemented and non-supplemented group is 1.3 % 14.3 % (below 2,500 g) and 35 % 55.1 % (below 3,000 g) respectively.
