The effect of digestive and metabolic disorders on reproduction, health state of udder, and on quality of milk
1987
Gregorovic, V. | Jazbec, I. (Biotehniska fakulteta, Ljubljana (Yugoslavia). VTOZD za veterinarstvo, Klinika za prezvekovalce)
The authors call attention to the need that an expert dealing with problems of mastitis - beside the others - has to analyse thoroughly the feeding of dairy cows and has to ascertain the possible mistakes in feeding, the eventual digestive disorders and their effect on metabolism, on quality of milk, and on the health state of udders. It is only in this way possible to estimate the cause of an increased number of cell units and of physiochemical changes of milk which accompany the bacterial infections of udder and the metabolic disorders, first of all the metabolic acidosis. Because of complexity of problems conected with illnesses of udder and with quality of milk the veterinarians working for the farms should cooperate with the corresponding veterinary, zootechnical and dairy science institutions or organizations.
