Determining factors of resistance to low air temperature during the period of dormancy of grape varieties

The content of free and bound water in buds and vines with some well known grape varieties has been investigated on the basis of a fact that there is a certain correlation between the resistance degree of protoplasm cell and the water content in it. Freezing of the above-ground parts of grape can be partial or complete depending on several external factors and internal biologic and physiologic processes and characteristics of varieties. Out of the external factors, very low air temperatures and their duration have the crucial effect on the degree of freezing.
