[Feeding the offspring of heavy lineal chicken hybrids with pellets off the ground]

A study of the possibilities of feeding the offspring of heavy lineal chickens with pellets off the ground, without feeding equipment, was performed under productional conditions. The study included 15,000 one-day-old female chicks of the heavy lineal hybrid Hybro. The following has been established: the average live weight of 18-week-old chickens was 1.785 kg; the average food consumption per chick amounted to 8.48 kg; the total mortality rate during the studied period was 12.32%; and the weight gain of the offspring was in most cases equal (about 80%). It was concluded that the studied method of nutrition is a useful alternative in cases when suitable equipment is not available on a farm.
