In this paper the author points out the capacities of private farms in the region of Serbia (Yugoslavia) which are not being exploited enough. Their better exploitation and the application of scientific achievements would enable an increase in food production on the whole and an increase in the income of the farmers. This can be done by improving the organization of collective farms and enhancing their personnel and economic potential.
