Estimating the relative number of loci for grain yield of inbred lines in maize (Zea mays L.)
1989
Petrovic, R. | Jelovac, D. (Maize Research Institute "Zemun Polje", Belgrade (Yugoslavia))
The objectives of this study were: (1) to select the best yielding crosses; (2) to estimate the relative of loci for yield performance in crosses of 7 inbred lines; (3) to select the donor lines that contain favourable alleles at loci where both parental lines of the elite crosses to be improved contain unfavourable alleles. Estimation of relative locus values in donor lines showed differences among them as potential sources of favourable alleles for the improvement of a specific line. Similarity in genetic locus constitution among some lines, obtained on the basis of comparison of relative locus values (micro C' + micro F') and (micro D' + micro D') was in agreement with the origin of the lines.
