Stamenkovic, S. (Institut za vocarstvo i vinogradarstvo, Cacak (Yugoslavia))
In the climatic conditions of Serbia (Yugoslavia), the duration of embryo development in the 1st generation of Adoxophyes orana ranges from 7.3 to 14.7 days. The average duration of embryo development in F1 generation amounts 9.2 and in the 2nd generation 11.1 days. In the Cacak area, in the 1975-1985 period, during the entire oviposition period, the embryo development lasted 8.7-11.0 days with an average of 9.6 days. At constant temperatures the embryo development shortens proportionally to the increase of temperature. The embryo development at 15 deg C lasted 16.7 days and at 28 deg C - 5.3 days. The optimum temperature for the embryo development is 21 deg C, whereas temperature deviation from the optimum enhances the mortality of embryos to a greater or smaller extent. Temperatures higher than the optimum significantly enhance the mortality.
