Contribution to the study of the appearance of some important pathogens of corn in the region of Bosanska Krajina [Yugoslavia]

On the basis of a two-year study on the reaction of maize hybrids to the agents of stalk decay, Ustilago mayolis and Helmintosporium turcicum, under natural conditions, the following can be concluded: There are differences in the resistance of the studied hybrids to the mentioned pathogens in various agroecological conditions. There is a certain number of hybrids in all three FAO groups which show a high level of resistance and have the highest yields. The intensity of the attacks of Ustilago mayolis and Helmintosporium turcicum was low during both years of the study, while the presence of Ustilago mayolis increased during 1987 in some of the hybrids.
