Extension possibilities of lata-a newly introduced boro rice variety in Sherpur district [Bangladesh]

This paper aimed at determining the farm level yield performance of lata and Pajam, and knowing farmers and extension personnels views about Lata. Data were collected from ten plots for each variety of ten farmers who had cultivated Lata and Pajam in adjacent plots under identical soil and environmental conditions and management practices. Lata could be harvested more than a week earlier than Pajam. The yield of Lata and Pajam were 4.78 and 4.11 t/ha respectively. Thousand grain weights were 25.0 and 16.3 gram respectively for Lata and Pajam, Extension personnels and farmers were optimistic about the performance of Lata.
