Procedural aspects of the present method of foundation seed potato production are mentioned with its drawbacks. Health status of seed potatoes supplied to BADC (Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation) is discussed. Improvement is suggested in respect of seed health with the incorporation of in-vitro production of mini-tubers by tissue culture and subsequent production of seed potatoes at Debigonj under strict sanitary measures.
