Incidence of gid disease in goats [Bangladesh]

A total of 750 goats were randomly surveyed to study the incidence of gid disease in goats. Of these, 39 were found to be affected with gid, the incidence being 5.2%. The disease occurred more frequently in animals between one and two years of old. The frequency of development of coenurus cerebralis cyst in the cerebral hemisphere was higher than in cerebellum. The depth of location of these cysts in the brain tissue was variable. The disease occurred predominantly in the winter months than in summer. There was little difference in the incidence of the disease among male and female sex groups.
