Karyotype analysis in diploid and colchicine induced tetraploids of Coorchorus olitorius and C. capsularis

The diploid Corchorus olitorius var. 0-4 and C. capsularis var. D-154 showed 2n = 14 chromosomes as against 2n = 28 in their colchicine induced tetraploid plants. The individuals of diploid and tetraploid species have a distinct centromeric and chromosomal formula along with the length of haploid chromosome complements. Moreover, a few intra-pair chromosomal heteromorphicity has been observed in both the diploid and tetraploid individuals.
