Effect of feeds with a greater fiber content fed on the week before dropping on the farrowing of sows
1990
Bilkei Papp, G.
The experimental and control groups consisted of 100-100 sows each. A normal, a moderately fattened and a fat subgroup were formed. The experimental group received feeds with 12 o/o, and the control group with 6 o/o, raw fibre content in a daily ration of 3 kg. The experimental sows of normal conditions dropped in a shorter time more living and fewer died piglets, than did the controls. The mortality within 3 days was also smaller. The difference facing the controls in the moderately fattened sows /although the tendency is completely positive/ was not significant. The experimental fat sows farrowed significantly fewer piglets. The duration of dropping positively influences the success of farrowing.
