Food habits of some forest birds in Mt. Makiling, Laguna [Philippines]
1991
Sinha, C.C. (Philippines. Department of Environment and Natural Resources)
Out of the 47 avian species (20 families) monitored in Mt. Makiling 13 species were observed for food habit study from January to June 1986. The stomach content analysis of the five most common species was conducted using the aggregate dry weight method. The aggregate dry weight stomach contents of sampled specimens represented an average of about 0.035% of the total body weight of the bird. The common fruit-bearing trees (17 species under 7 families) were also noted as the food sources (buds and berries) of the birds observed during the study.
