Direct spray of glufosinate-ammonium to weeds in between rows of one and a half month old sugarcane did not affect the crop but provided adequate control of weeds. Applied at 1.0 kg and 1.5 l formulated product/hectare, yields were similar to plots treated with glyphosate-IPA and 2,4-D at 2.0 kg and 3.82 L formulated product/hectare. Combining glufosinate ammonium with diuron resulted in higher significant yields. The best yield was obtained from plots treated with 1.0 L and 1.0 kg of the formulated product/hectare of these herbicides respectively.
