Water samples from the Mayondon and Kalayaan areas along Laguna de Bay [Philippines] were plated and the fungal colony counts were obtained. Sixteen fungal genera were identified, ten of which were molds and six of which were yeasts. The predominant groups were Penicillium, Curvularia, Aspergillus, Cladosporium, for molds, and Candida, Pichia, Torulopsis, for yeasts. More fungal species were isolated from Mayondon than from Kalayaan which is relatively less polluted site. More mold genera were isolated during the wet season while yeasts were represented by a greater variety of species during the dry season.
