The work of the Pasture, Forage, and Livestock Program of ICARDA in 1989 is reported including selection of widely and adapted and palatable feed legumes, biological nitrogen fixation and annual medics, evaluating annual pastures and feed legumes in cereal-based crop rotations, research in North Africa, improvement of Mediterranean grassland and marginal lands in the arable zone and the marginal lands between the driest zone of cultivation and the deserts, and the impact of feeding management and the influence of Helminth parasites on sheep productivity. The training and workshop activities of the program are summarized
