Postharvest disease of mango fruits caused by Colletotrichum gloeosporioides (Penz.) Sacc. and its controls

Relationship between disease incidence and physio-logical changing showed that the disease incidence was closely related with ripening stage and sugar content. The highest disease incidence was obtained at fully ripe stage and high sugar content (20.24 % Brix). The pattern of respiration and ethylene production of diseased fruit was the same as healthy one but higher. Cross inoculation of C. gloeosporioides from 4 varieties Nam Dok Mai, Nang Klang Wan, Tong Dam and Aukrong showed that C. gloeosporioides obtained from var. Nam Dok Mai was the most virulence and Nam Dok Mai was the most susceptible variety. The efficacy of benomyl, thiabendazole, carbendazim and thiaphanate-methyl in controlling this disease were conducted. Dipping the fruit in benomyl at concentration of 500 ppm or hot water at 55 deg. celsius 57 deg. celsius for 5 mins was the most effective. The next was dipping fruit in hot water at 53 deg. celsius or benomyl 500 ppm at 51, 53, 55 and 57 deg. celsius for 5 mins gave a good control prior to dipping fruit for 3 mins. An appropriate chemical application time was treated the fruit with chemical before infection. If the fruits were infected, they must be treated within 1 days after harvested.
