Effects of exogenous variables on demand and supply of natural rubber in Thailand

The elasticities of tappable area with respect to the wholesale price of rubber smoked sheet, planted area lagged six years and tappable area in the previous year were 0.0024, 0.4025 and 0.4711, respectively. The elasticity of domestic demand and export demand to Japan with respect to wholesale price of rubber smoked sheet were 1.0399 and 0.7689, respectively. Furthermore, the elasticity of export demand to U.S.A. with respect to wholesale price of rubber smoked sheet and the export tax rate were 2.3686 and 0.6829, respectively. If the export tax is regulated to decrease by 40 %, the tappable area wholesale price of rubber smoked sheet, export demand to Japan and U.S.A. will increase by 5.21,8.77,16.80 and 20.46 %, respectively, and domestic demand for rubber will decline by 9.65 %.
