Study on the inheritance of certain agronomic characteristics in cotton
1987
Kanoktip Kertprasertrat
There was a heterosis over mid-parent or heterobeltiosis in seed cotton yield per plant, number of bolls per plant, and plant height, especially in the interspecific crosses. Additive gene action and additive interaction were important in boll size, lint percentage, fiber length, micromaire, and fiber bundle strength, while seed cotton yield per plant, number of bolls per plant, and plant height were largely conditioned by non-additive gene actions which consist of dominance and interallelic interaction. Positive correlation were found between seed cotton yield and number of bolls per plant and boll size, boll size and lint percentage, number of bolls per plant and plant height, lint percentage and micronaire, fiber length and fiber bundle strength the negative correlations were found between lint percentage and fiber bundle strength, fiber length and micronaire, micronaire and fiber bundle strength.
