The effect of fertilization with some nutrients on agronomic and chemical properties of flue-cured tobacco

The results of investigation showed a positive relationship between applied nutrients, yield and visual estimated quality of tobacco. In 1984 more intensively fertilized treatments resulted in a tendency of lower content of nicotine, proteins total N, K2O, CaO, P2O5 and ash in comparison with standard fertilized tobacco. In the same year significantly higher content of reducing sugar was found by fertilization with double quantity of P2O5 and K2O and only a tendency of higher content of MgO by fertilization with dolomitic lime and P2O5. In the next year a positive relationship between content of K2O, MgO and P2O5 and fertilization with corresponding fertilizers was determined. The experimental data also showed mutually antagonistic activity of K, Ca and Mg in some of investigated properties.
