The life cycle of the tortoise beetle, Aspidomorpha miliaris (F.) on Ipomoea fistulosa Mart. ex Choisy was studied in the laboratory at a temperature of 25.5-32.5 deg. C and 88-98% R.H. Nineteen to fifty eggs were laid in egg masses on the lower surface of the leaf. The incubation period in both field and laboratory ranged from 14 to 17 days. Five larval instars and one pupal stage were recorded. The duration of the first, second, third, and fourth larval instars was 3 days each. The fifth instar and the pupal stage lasted for 7 to 9 and 5 to 9 days respectively. The life cycle was completed in 38 to 47 days.
