The inheritance of resistance to Green Leaf Blight (GLB) caused by Pythium sp. was studied. The results were as follows: The resistance to GLB appeared to have the character of quantitative inheritance which was controlled mainly by additive gene effects. In different generations, the resistance of F1 was similar to the mean level of its parents. But F2 was more susceptible than F1. The reactions of their backcross progenies to GLB tended to be similar to those of their recurrent parents. Therefore, the screening of resistant sources and the determination of resistance combining ability should be emphasized in the breeding program of maize GLB resistance. In order to select an ideal hybrid, both parents should be highly resistant
