During 1989 and 1990, the frequence of virulence of powdery mildew population on barley was examined on the territory of Slovakia and Moravia. A special device, developed by Schwarzbach and fixed on a car, was used for the collection of spores. In the examined mildew population there were present isolates virulent to the most commonly used genes of resistance in barley. Low frequence of virulence to the resistance gene Ml-al was proved, and on the territory of Slovakia in 1990, virulence to resistance gene Ml-a3 was proved. To the resistance gene Ml-a13 is practically virulent 90 percent of the pathogenic population.
